Nikhil Shyam, MD

Nikhil Shyam, MD, is a nationally recognized and board-certified member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Shyam received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, where he majored in nutritional sciences and was a Howard Hughes Research Fellow. He is an Alpha Omega Alpha honor graduate from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his internship at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He completed his residency in dermatology at Johns Hopkins University and a fellowship in medical and surgical hair restoration with world renowned expert Dr. Marc Avram in NYC. His research focus is in regenerative medicine, specifically platelet-rich plasma and its use in hair loss and skin rejuvenation.

With over 12 years of rigorous training at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, Dr. Shyam provides his patients with the highest quality and most compassionate care utilizing the latest in medical research and practice techniques. He is a firm believer in a team-oriented approach and works collaboratively with his medical and cosmetic patients to help guide and formulate personalized treatment plans. Utilizing his background in nutrition and grounded in evidence-based medicine, Dr. Shyam brings a comprehensive approach to dermatologic care. He is a pioneer in the area of platelet-rich plasma and its use in alopecia (hair loss) and skin rejuvenation. He began his research at Johns Hopkins and helped establish the protocol for PRP treatment in hair restoration. He has numerous research publications on the latest in medical and surgical hair restoration techniques. Dr. Shyam lectures nationally at dermatology conferences, including the American Society for Dermatological Surgery and continues to be a thought leader in the field of dermatology.
